Candidate Requirements:

• 5-7 years of yearling sales prep experience and 3-5 years of staff management.
• High school diploma or equivalent, and a valid U.S. driver's license.
• Strong computer skills and experience with Horse Farm Management software.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
• This full-time role requires on-farm housing and includes a competitive compensation and benefits package. The Assistant Yearling Manager must be on-call for emergencies.

We are currently looking to grow the team by adding a Senior Accountant to our growing team. The ideal candidate is based in Lexington and proven successes in an accounting capacity preferably in the equine industry.

Overview:

The Senior Accountant will work closely with our Director of Accounting, and the racing team to ensure timely and accurate reporting for each of our +75 Series (Horses), including our traditional racing syndicate, Edge Racing. The Senior Accountant will manage the day-to-day accounting responsibilities for each of the series including accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections and distributions.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and proven experience in an accounting and or finance role
  • A degree in accounting or finance is strongly preferred, but a proven track record of success in similar accounting roles may be considered
  • Strong Excel skills required (Vlookup, Pivot tables, Macros (a plus). Demonstrated experience utilizing Excel as the basis for reconciliations, partner accounting, financial statement preparation a big plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting software platforms (QuickBooks, Xero, other enterprise solutions)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to self-direct based on deadlines and priorities, with the ability to adapt to changes while maintaining a positive outlook and patient attitude
  • An understanding of horse racing financial ecosystem is preferred
  • Willingness to learn and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • We run a horse racing company, so a passion for our equine athletes is essential and a requirement.
