Canadian Champion My Boy Prince Preps For King's Plate In Style At Woodbine

My Boy Prince | Michael Burns

Last year, My Boy Prince (Cairo Prince) secured top honors as the Sovereign Award winner for the best 2-year-old colt north of the border after he was the runner-up in the GI bet365 Summer S.  in Toronto and third in the GI Prevagen Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita.

The 3-year-old had a tough start to this year's campaign as he finished eighth in the Palisades S. at Keeneland Apr. 7, but he returned home to rebound with a 6 3/4-length win May 19.

Backed to the hilt at the windows for this King's Plate prep at 35 cents on the dollar, My Boy Prince faced some early suitors who were vying for the front end, but by the far turn they were dispatched. The colt continued to handle his business heading into the lane and he romped home a no-doubt winner.

The winner's dam is responsible for unraced 2-year-old colt Athlete (Kitten's Joy), who was sent from the U.S. to England last year. Hopping Not Hoping foaled a filly by Classic Empire Feb. 24.
