Brown Runners on Comeback Trail

Trainer Chad Brown is in the process of readying Lady Eli (Divine Park), undefeated winner of the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, for a return to the races this spring.

“She's breezing terrific,” Brown said. “Right now, the plan is to run her in the [GIII] Appalachian at Keeneland Apr. 12.” The Sheep Pond Partners colorbearer worked a bullet four furlongs in :48 3/5 at Palm Meadows Feb. 24 and followed with a similar move Mar. 3. “Mechanically, she's moving beautifully,” Brown said. “I'm just hoping to see more of the same from her as we get closer to her 3-year-old debut.” Brown identified the GI Belmont Oaks and the GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup as her major goals this term.

Brown also said that GII Remsen S. winner Leave the Light On (Horse Greeley) is recovering well from ankle surgery. “Right now he's at Dell Ridge Farm in Kentucky,” Brown said. “We'll pick him up when we go back to Keeneland. Dr. [Larry] Bramlage performed the surgery on him, and according to his report, everything went as planned, and the prognosis is excellent. Fingers crossed, we'll pick him up at Keeneland, and hopefully he'll be a nice horse for us during the summer.”
