The highly respected University of Louisville's Equine Industry Program has tapped into its own alumni to select a new director, naming Sean Beirne the successor of Tim Capps, who passed away after a stroke in Apr. 2017.
“On Nov. 1, I will begin what I consider to be my 'dream job,'” Beirne, a Louisville native, said. “I am thrilled beyond words to receive the opportunity to come back to my alma mater and prepare students to become the future leaders of our great sport of horse racing.”
Beirne graduated with a bachelor's degree from the program in 1990 after securing a previous undergraduate degree in political science four years earlier. He has most recently been with Roberts Communications Network and has spent the last eight years on the Colorado Racing Commission, including two as chairman.
