Author and award-winning sports journalist Paul Hayward has joined the TDN's team of writers in Europe and will feature as a regular columnist.
Based in England, Hayward's early years in journalism were spent working for the Racing Post before branching out across other sports in his role as chief sports writer for various national newspapers, including The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian.
He has been Sports Writer of the Year at the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards on five occasions and is the author of England Football: The Biography 1872-2022. He is also the co-author of Kevin Sinfield's recently published autobiography The Extra Mile, and has co-written the autobiographies of Michael Owen, Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Robson.
Hayward said, “I'm delighted to be joining TDN's fine stable of writers, and hope to offer perspectives on the racing issues of the day from my experience of covering all sports.”
Emma Berry, European Editor of TDN, said, “It is an honour to have a writer of Paul's calibre and renown on our team. He has long been passionate about the sport of horseracing and his regular column, which starts next week, will enhance our unrivalled coverage of racing, breeding and bloodstock sales across Europe.”
