ParisLongchamp's card on Thursday played host to a significant debutante as Godolphin, Ecurie des Monceaux and Ecurie Skymarc Farm's Philomene (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) struck at the first time of asking in the Prix de la Cascade over a mile. The €1.625million Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale topper is out of Prudenzia (Ire) (Dansili {GB}), which makes her a half-sister to the luminaries Magic Wand (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Chicquita (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}).

PHILOMENE (IRE) (f, 2, Dubawi {Ire}–Prudenzia {Ire} {SW-Fr}, by Dansili {GB}), who at €1.625million was the 2019 Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale topper, broke well to race in third against the rail early. Angled out to run down Tasmania (Fr) (Zoffany {Ire}) in the final 300 metres, the 7-10 favourite managed that in the final strides en route to a short-neck success. “I was able to take a good position and when I took her out at the top of the straight I had more than a length to make up, but she really started to run then and quickened nicely,” jockey Mickael Barzalona commented. “It was a very promising performance.” The winner is the eighth foal out of the Listed Prix de la Seine winner Prudenzia (Ire) (Dansili {GB}), whose first was the G1 Irish Oaks heroine and G1 Prix de Diane runner-up Chicquita (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}), Hwt. Older Mare-Ire at 11-14f, G1SW-Ire, G1SP-Eng & Fr, $859,094. Also responsible for the G1 MacKinnon S. and G2 Ribblesdale S. heroine Magic Wand (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), G1SW-Aus, GSW & MG1SP-Ire, GSW-Eng, MG1SP-Fr, MGISP-US, G1SP-KH, $4,702,433, and her G3 Prix de Royaumont-placed full-sister Je Ne Regretterien (GB) (Galileo {Ire}). The dam's half-sister Pacifique (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}) took the G3 Prix de Lutece, which her daughter Paix (Ire) (Muhaarar {GB}) also captured on this afternoon's card, while her half-brother English King (Fr) (Camelot {GB}) needs no introduction as the Listed Lingfield Derby Trial winner who so excited earlier this summer. Sadler's Wells' influence on this family is far-reaching, with his daughter Alexandrova (Ire) winning the trio of G1 Epsom, Irish and Yorkshire Oaks and his finest heir Galileo is responsible for Prudenzia's yearling colt. That full-brother to Magic Wand will be turning heads when selling during Wednesday's session of the Arqana Deauville September Yearling Sale. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, €11,000.
