Adding lustre to a stellar week for her Ballylinch Stud-based sire, Antonia de Vega (Ire) (Lope de Vega {GB}) backed up a July 14 debut win over six furlongs at Newmarket with an impressive closing burst to seal victory upped one panel in Saturday's G3 Ladbrokes Prestige S. at Goodwood. Employing patient tactics in fifth through the initial fractions, the 5-2 joint-favourite was under pressure with three furlongs remaining and, despite looking held in fourth passing the eighth pole, engaged turbo inside the final 100 yards to claim a career high going away by 1 1/4 lengths from Accordance (GB) (Archipenko), with Chynna (GB) (Gregorian {Ire}) a neck further adrift in third. “I wasn't 100 percent happy as we came down the hill, but they all started to get tired in front and she just finished very strongly,” said rider Harry Bentley of the Sept. 16 G1 Moyglare Stud S. and Oct. 12 G1 Fillies' Mile entry. “She is already crying out for a trip, she has done nothing wrong in both her starts and that will do her the world of good. There was a strong pace up front and it was good for her to be among horses. She is a very laid-back filly which makes my job easy and the Fillies' Mile looks an obvious target.”

Antonia de Vega, kin to a yearling colt by Lawman (Fr) and a filly foal by Lope de Vega (Ire), is the first foal for Listed Platinum S. and Listed Knockaire S. placegetter Witches Brew (Ire) (Duke of Marmalade), herself a half-sister to G1 Prix Jacques le Marois hero Al Wukair (Ire) (Dream Ahead). Her third dam Caerlina (Ire) (Caerleon) landed the G1 Prix de Diane and produced G1 Irish 1000 Guineas and G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches third La Nuit Rose (Fr) (Rainbow Quest), who in turn is the dam of GII Kelso H. scorer Tam Lin (GB) (Selkirk) and Listed Derby du l'Ouest victor Blue Rambler (GB) (Monsun {Ger}). Caerlina is also the granddam of MG1SP G2 Kinko Sho winner Curren Mirotic (Jpn) (Heart's Cry {Jpn}) and G1SP G3 Kyoto Himba S. victress Hikaru Amaranthus (Jpn) (Agnes Tachyon {Jpn}).
