Another For Harrington As One Voice Takes the Blue Wind

One Voice | Racing Post

There was more joy for the Jessie Harrington stable at Leopardstown on Sunday as Craig Bernick's One Voice (Ire) (Poet's Voice {GB}) emerged on top in the G3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Blue Wind S. Having her first outing since winning a seven-furlong maiden here in July when runner-up to stablemate Silence Please (Ire) (Gleneagles {Ire}) in Navan's Listed Salsabil S. over this 10-furlong trip June 10, the bay was reserved towards the rear throughout the early stages of this contest by Shane Foley. Unleashed out wide to cut down Snow (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the last 150 yards, the 16-5 shot battled to a half-length success, with Yaxeni (Fr) (Maxios {GB}) 2 1/4 lengths away in third.

“She did that well and had plenty left in the tank,” her rider commented. “When she gets to the front she tends to have a look around, but can also be quite keen so I just hunted her around early on.” Kate Harrington added, “I think she deserved that after getting touched off by Silence Please the last day. She's a lovely filly. She's in the [G2] Kilboy Stakes [at The Curragh] and I'd say that will be her next target. He was meant to make the running, so Shane said it was plan Z. It worked out today, maybe that's the way to ride her and we were doing it wrong. She has a real good attitude, she's a lovely progressive filly and will keep stepping forward. It's lovely to get a winner for Craig, as that's the first horse we've had for him.”

One Voice's dam Zaaqya (GB) (Nayef) is a half-sister to the stakes scorer and GII Joe Hernandez S. runner-up Double Touch (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}). Their respective dam Classical Dancer (GB) (Dr Fong) was a twice listed-placed half to the G1 Premio Roma hero Imperial Dancer (GB) (Primo Dominie {GB}) and the dam of the G2 Beresford S. runner-up Layali Al Andalus (GB) (Halling). The fifth dam Parthica (GB) (Parthia {GB}), a half-sister to the G1 1000 Guineas heroine Favoletta (GB) (Baldric), produced the G1 Irish Oaks heroine Give Thanks (GB) (Relko {GB}). Zaaqya's 2-year-old colt by Dandy Man (Ire) was knocked down to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for 95,000gns at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2 and is named Vivian Grey (Ire), while she also has a colt foal by the same sire.
