Brereton C. Jones homebred GIII Pegasus S. winner Albano (Istan) worked five furlongs in 1:01.80, good for 11 of 48, New Year's eve in preparation towards a 4-year-old debut in the listed Lousiana H. at Fair Grounds. Albano was runner-up in a pair of graded stakes here over the winter in the Jan. 18 GIII LeComte S. and the GII Risen Star S. Feb. 22. Fourth in the Mar. 29 GII Lousiana Derby, the Larry Jones charge ran second in the GI William Hill Haskell Invitational S. at Monmouth Park after his Pegasus victory and ended his sophomore year with a third in the GIII Smarty Jones S. at Parx Sept. 1.
“He seems like he's doing well right now,” Jones said. “We will most likely look at the (Listed $75,000 Louisiana Handicap) on the 17th with him.”
