Al Mubhir Returns At Goodwood

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Friday's Observations features the return of a Frankel (GB) 'TDN Rising Star'.

1.30 Goodwood, Cond, £25,000, 3yo, 8fT
AL MUBHIR (GB) (Frankel {GB}) makes his eagerly-awaited 3-year-old debut, having been forced to swerve the G3 Craven S. earlier this month. The fact that William Haggas was prepared to take on Native Trail (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) there suggests that Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum's 'TDN Rising Star' who scored on his sole start at Newmarket in October could have a bright future.

4.00, Saint-Cloud, Debutantes, €27,000, 3yo, f, 8fT
GALANTHUS (GB) (Siyouni {Fr}) debuts for Westerberg and the Andre Fabre stable, having cost €400,000 at the 2020 Arqana Deauville September Yearling Sale. A half-sister to the G1 Prix Jean Prat winner Intellogent (Ire) (Intello {Ger}), the April-foaled bay encounters Godolphin's Agent Sonya (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), a Henri-Alex Pantall-trained daughter of the multiple Group 2 winner Very Special (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}).

5.10, Saint-Cloud, Mdn, €27,000, 3yo, c/g, 10 1/2fT
AD DEBEL (FR) (Siyouni {Fr}) is another intriguing debutante on this informative card, being Al Shaqab Racing's €525,000 Arqana Deauville October Yearling Sale topper. Francis-Henri Graffard has charge of the G1 Grand Prix de Paris entry, whose dam is a half to English King (Fr) (Camelot {GB}) from the family of Magic Wand (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Chicquita (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}).

5.35 Newcastle, Novice, £7,300, 3yo, 10f 42y (AWT)
FRANCESCO CLEMENTE (IRE) (Dubawi {Ire}) was a taking winner of Newmarket's Wood Ditton earlier this month and it is significant that the White Birch Farm homebred has drawn Frankie Dettori up to the North East on a day when his home town is staging the first of three days of the Guineas meeting. Entered in the G2 King Edward VII S., the John and Thady Gosden-trained relative of the brilliant Islington (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) and her high-class full-sibling Greek Dance (Ire) is bred to relish this extra distance with the Derby trials looming on the horizons.
