A filly by the late Arkansas-based stallion G.W.'s Skippie was among three juveniles to breeze a furlong in a bullet :10 flat (Hip 803 video) at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's July Sale breeze show Friday morning.
Catalogued as Hip 803, the filly was bred in Arkansas by Jarett Wolfe, who stood her stakes-winning sire G.W.'s Skippie. The daughter of Jena's Gold (Seeking the Gold) was consigned to the sale by Hartley and DeRenzo Thoroughbreds.
“My son got G.W.'s Skippie from Clear Oak Stallions back in Fulsom, Louisiana,” Wolfe said. “G.W.'s Skippie hurt his knee in his last race and that finished him up. He is the only stallion we have had and, unfortunately, he passed about a week ago. He was a very, very nice horse. He had a good mind and he put that into his babies too. They try hard.”
The other :10 flat workers were Hip 859, a filly by Anchor Down (video), and Hip 864, a colt by Cinco Charlie (video). From the first crop of Anchor Down, Hip 859 was bred by Wynnstay and GWR Consultants. A $40,000 KEENOV weanling, she was purchased by Captiva Bloodstock for $100,000 at Keeneland September. The daughter of Lin Marie (Curlin) was consigned by Julie Davies.
Bred by Linden Branch, Hip 864 is out of Lookin' Foxy (E Dubai), a half-sister to GSW Humoristic (Sefapiano). New Beginnings purchased the colt for $75,000 at FTKJUL and he RNA'd at this venue's March Sale for $112,000. He was consigned by McKathan Bros. Sales that day and returns to that consignment today.
The quickest quarter-mile breezer of the day was Hip 839, a daughter of MGISW Palace, who went in :21 flat. Blue River Bloodstock consigns the filly on behalf of breeder Beth Bayer.
