Fox Hill Farms' Songbird (Medaglia d'Oro) followed up on her championship juvenile season by unanimously earning the statue as Eclipse Champion 3-Year-Old Filly of 2016. The dark bay filly's march through the sophomore division was only briefly halted by an untimely illness before the GI Kentucky Oaks. Despite missing that spring Classic, she was unchallenged while scoring victories in the GI Santa Anita Oaks, GI Coaching Club American Oaks, GI Alabama S. and GI Cotillion S. Songbird only gained admirers while suffering the lone loss of her career to date with a gritty nose defeat to champion Beholder (Henny Hughes) in the GI Breeders' Cup Distaff.
