After the scratching of previously race favorite Omei Sword (Aus) (High Chaparral {Ire}) by trainer Chris Waller due to illness, Yankee Rose (Aus) (All American {Aus}), the winner of the Apr. 2 G1 Inglis Sires' S., looms the clear class of the six-horse A$500,000 G1 Flight S. field.
Runner-up to 'TDN Rising Star' Capitalist (Aus) (Written Tycoon {Aus}) in the G1 Golden Slipper Mar. 19, the dark bay savored the soft conditions transferred to Randwick and recorded her first top-level score in the aforementioned Inglis Sires' Apr. 2. Plans for a run in the Apr. 16 G1 Moet & Chandon Champagne S. were scuppered after she pulled a plate and was tender in her left fore hoof necessitating her withdrawal. Second in a 1270-metre barrier trial upon resuming Aug. 30, the dark bay took the early lead in the Golden Rose, but faded to sixth. The All American filly got back on track with a victory in a 1200-metre barrier trial Sept. 23 and trainer David Vandyke plans to his filly seek cover Saturday.
MGSP Skylight Glow (Aus) (Northern Meteor {Aus}) has steadily improved this season, running third in the G3 Daily Telegraph Ming Dynasty Sept. 3 and narrowly filled the second spot in the Tea Rose S. last time, with GSP Global Glamour (Aus) (Star Witness {Aus}) back in sixth Sept. 17.
Waller will still be represented in the Flight S. with the duo of Awoke (NZ) (Rip Van Winkle {Ire}) and Sept. 2 G2 Tea Rose S. fourth Sezanne (Aus) (More Than Ready).
