ARROGATE (c, 3, Unbridled's Song–Bubbler {MSW & GSP, $211,622}, by Distorted Humor) had a nightmare trip when bet down to 1-2 in his debut Apr. 17 at Los Alamitos, breaking slowly and getting stuck in traffic for much of the running before flying late to finish a close third, running his last quarter-mile in a sizzling :22.56. Breaking a bit better but still a little awkwardly at 9-10 in this spot, the $560,000 Keeneland September buy soon punched through an opening at the rail to make the point heading into the clubhouse turn. Dictating a moderate pace of :24.09 and :48.12, the gray was challenged by Giant Expectations (Frost Giant) midway on the far bend, but shook off that rival quickly after straightening into the lane and finished full of run to score by 4 1/2 lengths in 1:41.80 and earn 'TDN Rising Star' status. Arrogate is the first foal from a multiple stakes winning and graded stakes placed dam, who has a yearling filly by Medaglia d'Oro.
