+SHAKEN (f, 3, Uncle Mo–Seattle Shimmer, by Seattle Slew), sent off as the 5-2 joint second-choice for this debut, finished fastest of all to graduate by 1 1/2 lengths. Last but one down the backstretch, the bay advanced steadily and was sent four wide into the turn. She rallied from that position to lead inside the final sixteenth of a mile and came away to open her account at first asking. The hard-luck story of the race was runner-up Stradivarius (Street Cry {Ire}), the rail-drawn half-sister to GISW Eskenderya (Giant's Causeway). Off without incident, she was snatched up off the heels of pacesetting favorite Dancer Dianne (Harlan's Holiday) nearing the turn. Waited with in upper stretch, she was sent through a gap at the rail by Colby Hernandez Jr. and led for a stride or two before being outfinished by Shaken. The winner was purchased by Fleetwood Bloodstock, agent for Jerre Paxton's Northwest Farms, for $190,000 at Keeneland January two winters ago. Shaken was then bought back by her breeder for $80,000 when offered through the Northwest dispersal at last summer's Fasig-Tipton Summer Selected Horses of Racing Age sale. Produced by an unraced daughter of GSW Golden Gale (Summer Squall), the Shaken is a half to Sway Away (Afleet Alex), MGSP, $206,800. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,000.
