Seattle Serenade remained unbeaten with a comfortable score Friday afternoon at Los Alamitos, becoming the newest 'TDN Rising Star'. The bay, who sold, for $1,000,000 as a Keeneland September yearling, pressed the pace and earned a hard-fought victory going 6 1/2 furlongs on debut at Del Mar Nov. 12. Hammered down to 4-5 favoritism to remain unbeaten here, he broke alertly and tracked the pace set by Feisty's Cause (Cause Ur Mine) through fractions of :22.34 and :45.46. Asked for more turning for home, the bay leveled off nicely and drew off to a 6 1/4-length score over Tough Sunday (Grazen) in a quick time for six furlongs. The winner is a son of Canadian champion Serenading, who is responsible for Silhouette, a yearling full-sister to the winner. She was most recently bred to Distorted Humor. His second dam is MSW & GISP Daijin (Deputy Minister), a full-sister to GI Belmont S. winner Touch Gold and a half-sister to Canadian champion and GSW With Approval (Caro {Ire}). This is also the female family of GISW Brilliant Speed (Dynaformer).
