Omaha Beach Filly Kehoe Beach All The Way in the Mrs. Revere

Sent off at just over even money to stretch her current winning streak to three, Kehoe Beach (Omaha Beach) was allowed a very soft time of things on the front end in a race which appeared to have plenty of speed on paper and made every pole a winning one in Friday's GII Mrs. Revere Stakes at Churchill Downs.

Having won allowance races at Kentucky Downs–over seven furlongs in September–and going a mile at Keeneland last month by a combined 13 1/2 lengths in her two most recent trips to the post, employing front-running tactics, the $180,000 Keeneland November weanling turned $450,000 Keeneland September yearling stepped away cleanly from gate three and made the lead with a minimum of fuss for Frankie Dettori, who kept his mount in the two path for the run around the clubhouse turn through an opening quarter-mile in :24.35.

Allowed to bowl along under her own courage with only token pressure from Pounce (Lookin At Lucky) through an even :48.57 for the half-mile, Kehoe Beach was firmly in front at the midpoint of the turn, responded when set down for the drive and was never in serious danger, as Pounce won a photo for second from Poolside With Slim (Ire) (Churchill {Ire}). Minoushka (GB) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) was well back through the early stages while increasingly disadvantaged by the race shape and got home well to finish an upgradeable fourth.

“She's strong but has pace and is very sensible,” Dettori commented. “She uses her breathing right. She knows exactly how to race which makes it a push-button ride for me. When I pushed that button she showed a great turn of foot like she did last time. Wesley was full of confidence going into the race. He even made me stay here in the cold to ride her and I wasn't going to say no.”

Kehoe Beach won her maiden with a fair bit of authority in the Keeneland slop Apr. 12 ahead of a well-beaten fourth to 'TDN Rising Star' Munnys Gold (Munnings) in Saratoga allowance company Aug. 12. The bay was a head second after making the running when trying turf and two turns for the first time at Ellis July 7, but earned Beyers of 95 and 94 in her two most recent appearances and kept the streak alive on Friday.

Pedigree Notes:

Kehoe Beach becomes the 13th stakes winner and fourth winner at the graded level for her sire, while the outstanding Street Cry–winner of this track's GI Stephen Foster Handicap during his illustrious racing career–was being represented posthumously by his 165th worldwide stakes winner and 91st graded/group winner as a broodmare sire.

Kehoe Beach is the third of her dam's seven winners to salute at stakes level, and her half-sister Must Be Dreaming–a full-sister to Are You Kidding Me–is the dam of the fleet Vlahos (Kantharos), third to Seize the Grey (Arrogate) in the GII Pat Day Mile Stakes on the Kentucky Derby undercard this past May.

A half-sister to 2008 GIII Illinois Derby winner Recapturetheglory (Cherokee Run), Sweet Awakening is also the dam of the Emirates-based 2-year-old colt Arz Lebnan (Munnings), a yearling Gun Runner colt that fetched $80,000 at this year's Fasig-Tipton October Sale and she was most recently covered by Army Mule.
