LIBERAL ARTS (c, 3, Arrogate–Ismene {MSW, $236,990}, by Tribal Rule) entered the Triple Crown trail with a 2 3/4-length score in this track's GIII Street Sense Stakes last fall ahead of a third to future GI Kentucky Derby hero Mystik Dan (Goldencents) in the GIII Southwest Stakes Feb. 3. Sixth, placed eighth, in the GI Arkansas Derby Mar. 30, the gray was last seen finishing a well-beaten sixth in the Apr. 13 GIII Stonestreet Lexington Stakes, his final appearance for trainer Robbie Medina. Resuming here under the care of Brad Cox, the easing 2-1 chalk was with the vanguard early while wide on the track and remained in touch for the run into the turn. With Awesome Aaron (Practical Joke) to catch entering the final furlong, the homebred claimed that one with time ticking away and outgamed Banishing (Ghostzapper) for a narrow victory. A half-brother to Nardini (Acclamation), MSP, $205,866; and to Ismelucky (Lucky Pulpit), SW, $167,062, Liberal Arts is the final listed produce for his stakes-winning dam. Lifetime Record: GSW, 9-3-1-3, $414,245. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by FanDuel TV.
