Sales action returns to Hokkaido's Northern Horse Park on Tuesday, October 22 with the third edition of the Northern Farm Mixed Sale. The auction features a selection of 52 weanlings which is followed by 79 broodmares and fillies out of training.
A colt by Kitasan Black (Jpn), the sire of Equinox (Jpn), who was crowned Longines World's Best Racehorse in 2023, topped the foal section of the JRHA Select Sale in July. The Shadai stallion is represented by three of his weanlings in the Mixed Sale, including lot 21, a colt out of the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes heroine Margot Did (Ire) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}), who is already the dam of three black-type winners, headed by the GI Belmont Oaks victrix Magic Attitude (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) and this year's G1 Satsuki Sho winner Justin Milano (Jpn).
Justin Milano's sire, Kizuna (Jpn), is represented by two weanlings out of Group 1-winning mares in Europe. Lot 1 is a colt out of the Prix Saint-Alary winner Incarville (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), while the filly out of the Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Samitar (GB) (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}) will go under the hammer as lot 27.
Rey De Oro (Jpn) is also represented by a couple of choicely-bred colts. Lot 23 is out of the G1 Sun Chariot Stakes and GI E. P. Taylor Stakes winner Siyouma (Ire) (Medicean {GB}), a half-sister to Siyouni (Fr), while lot 42 is out of the GI Gamely Stakes heroine Miss Serendipity (Arg) (Not For Sale {Arg}).
Other weanlings to look out for include lot 2, an Epiphaneia (Jpn) filly whose dam, Covert Love (Ire) (Azamour {Ire}), won twice at the top level in the Irish Oaks and Prix de l'Opera; lot 7, a Kingman (GB) colt out of another dual Group 1 winner in Ed Walker's Dreamloper (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), successful in the Prix d'Ispahan and Prix du Moulin; and lot 31, a Saturnalia (Jpn) filly out of the G1 VRC Australian Guineas victrix Mystic Journey (Aus) (Needs Further {Aus}).
Multiple daughters of Group- or Grade 1-winning mares can be found in the filly and broodmare section. The unraced Maurice mare Anita (Jpn), a daughter of the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Ria Antonia (Rockport Harbor), will be offered in foal to Saturnalia as lot 108, with Reve de la Mere (Jpn) (Lord Kanaloa {Jpn}) next up as lot 109.
Reve De La Mere, who has been covered by Schnell Meister (Ger), is a daughter of Reve d'Essor (Jpn) (Agnes Tachyon {Jpn}), a champion two-year-old filly in Japan. Incidentally, another of Reve d'Essor's daughters, the three-year-old Riazor (Jpn), will go under the hammer as lot 154.
Lot 136, Lilac Rose (Jpn) (Henrythenavigator), is a half-sister to another champion two-year-old filly in Japan, Lucky Lilac (Jpn) (Orfevre {Jpn}). They are both out of the GI Ashland Stakes heroine Lilacs And Lace (Flower Alley) and Lilac Rose will be offered in foal to Indy Champ (Jpn).
Two daughters of Deep Impact (Jpn) are included, with the placed Aurora Emblem (Jpn), a half-sister to the Japanese Group 2 winner Victoria (Jpn) (Victoire Pisa {Jpn}), set to be sold in foal to Maurice (Jpn) as lot 107. Alis Victoriae (Jpn) (Lord Kanaloa {Jpn}), a daughter of Victoria, is also catalogued as lot 168.
The three-year-old Donauwalzer (Jpn) (Maurice {Jpn}), who is out of a full-sister to one of Deep Impact's most talented offspring, the dual Japan Cup heroine Gentildonna (Jpn), will be offered as lot 151, while Reina Dorada (Jpn) (Rey De Oro {Jpn}), a daughter of another Japan Cup winner for Deep Impact, Shonan Pandora (Jpn), also features as lot 153.
