If you didn't get your fill of stakes action on Saturday, this is the weekend for you.
Five more graded stakes, including the 'Win and You're In' GII Miss Grillo Stakes, as well as the final leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, will take place on Sunday.
'TDN Rising Star' Virgin Colada (More Than Ready) will look to punch her ticket to the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in a wide-open renewal of the Miss Grillo at the Belmont at the Big A meeting. A flashy come-from-behind debut winner over the lawn at the Spa July 21, she got going too late to finish second as the chalk in the P. G. Johnson Stakes upstate Aug. 28.
No trainer has won the Miss Grillo more than Chad Brown. In addition to the aforementioned rail-drawn 7-2 morning-line favorite, Brown will have two more chances for a record- extending 10th win in the Miss Grillo with Sept. 1 second-out maiden winner Opulent Restraint (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) and New York-bred debut winner Marvelous Madison (Caravaggio).
The full field of 12 also includes the two-for-two Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies Stakes heroine May Day Ready (Tapit) and Catch A Glimpse Stakes upsetter Shifty (Medaglia d'Oro).
The nine-race program at the Big A also features a fantastic showdown between GI Test Stakes winner 'TDN Rising Star' Ways and Means (Practical Joke) and three-for-three Nic's Style (Uncaptured) in the GII Gallant Bloom Stakes.
A pair of graded stakes will share the spotlight at Santa Anita Sunday. The GII Santa Anita Sprint Championship Stakes includes Fort Bragg (Tapit) and Straight No Chaser (Speightster). A field of six will throw down two races earlier on the card in the GII Zenyatta Stakes.
Most Wanted (Candy Ride {Arg}), the unbeaten half-brother to MGISW Life Is Good (Into Mischief), will put his three-for-three record on the line for trainer Brad Cox in the GIII Oklahoma Derby. He was a narrow winner of the Ellis Park Derby last out Aug. 11.
Hurricane Clair (Silent Name {Jpn}) will be favored in the final leg of the Canadian Triple Crown at Woodbine. She seeks to become the first filly to win the Breeders' Stakes since 2012. Hurricane Clair won the Wonder Where Stakes, the final leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara, last time out Sept. 8.
