Illuminate Set to Shine at Ascot

The Richard Hannon-trained filly Illuminate (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}), who made a very favorable impression when winning a Salisbury maiden on her debut in May, is on course for the G3 Albany S. at Royal Ascot. Her clearcut defeat of stablemate Great Page (Ire) (Roderic O'Connor {Ire}) reads all the better now following the subsequent impressive victory of the runner up in a Listed race at Naas on Monday. Speaking on behalf of owners Denford Stud Paul Webber said, “The thinking is she will go for the Albany. The form took a huge boost on Monday and time may tell it was too good to be true, but it certainly was pleasing. I spoke to Richard [Hannon] and we were thinking of the Albany rather than the G2 Queen Mary S, but plans can always change. She won't run before, it will be straight to Ascot now.” Last years race was won by the exciting Cursory Glance (Distorted Humor) who beat the Wesley Ward trained subsequent G1 Del Mar Debutante S. winner Sunset Glow (Exchange Rate).
