Kameko Reaches Milestone Top-Level Winner In The Great White North

Qatar Racing's New Century (GB) (Kameko) made his North American debut in style, running out a 1 1/4-length winner of the GI Summer Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday (video) for trainer Andrew Balding.

Bred by the Potent Embrace Partnership, the dark bay is a half-brother to G3 Glorious Stakes winner and G1 Grosser Preis von Baden third Passion And Glory (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}). Potent Embrace (Street Cry {Ire}) foaled a full-brother to New Century in 2023. Both his granddam, Karen's Caper (War Chant), and his great granddam, Miss Caerleona (Fr) (Caerleon), won at Grade III level Stateside. The latter also foaled GII Davona Dale Stakes victress Miss Coronado (Coronado's Quest).

Tweenhills Stud's Kameko has his first runners this season, and New Century is his initial runner in North America. Overall, he has 10 winners worldwide, and also has the G3 Acomb Stakes second and G2 Superlative Stakes third Wimbledon Hawkeye (GB) as his other black-type horse to date.

That Lovin' Feeling

Godolphin homebred Beautiful Love (Ire) (Siyouni {Fr}) captured the GIII Fasig-Tipton Jockey Club Oaks Invitational Stakes during the Belmont at the Big A meet on Saturday (video). The Charlie Appleby trainee was ridden by Dylan Davis.

Previously campaigned in the UK and Meydan, the filly's record now boasts three wins from eight starts, with Saturday's heroics her first black-type and graded win. The third foal, third winner and second stakes winner out of G3 Prix Fille de l'Air heroine Powder Snow (Dubawi {Ire}), Beautiful Love (Ire) is a half-sister to G3 Zetland Stakes hero Flying Honours (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}). Her dam's latest offspring are a juvenile colt named Nordic Games (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), a yearling colt by Kingman (GB), and a filly foal by Sea The Stars (Ire). Third dam is the influential G1 Oaks heroine Snow Bride (Blushing Groom {Fr}), herself responsible for a trio of stakes winners anchored by European champion and sire Lammtarra (Nijinsky II), the winner of the Arc, Derby and King George.

The Aga Khan Studs' Siyouni has 18 winners from 43 runners (42%) after Beautiful Love's victory. His total North American stakes winners have increased to five, with four scoring at graded level.

Winter Memories Goes To Les Reys

West Point Thoroughbreds, Peter Leidel and Winters Equine's Les Reys (Fr) (Penny's Picnic {Ire}) struck in the Listed Winter Memories Stakes at Belmont at the Big A (video) for trainer Christophe Clement.

Bred by Athanase Poulopoulos and Haras du Hoguenet, the grey was a €12,000 buy-back at the Arqana Select Yearling Sale. During her seven-race French tenure under the care of co-owner and trainer Didier Guillemin, she won the Listed Prix Volterra for Guillemin, Poulopoulos et al in June. She is the ninth foal and seventh winner for her unraced dam, Allegria (Fr) (Verglas {Ire}), who has a juvenile colt by The Grey Gatsby (Ire) still to race. This is the family of G2 Temple Stakes/G2 Queen Mary Stakes winner Dramatised (Ire) (Showcasing {GB}) who was second in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, and multiple graded winner Quattroelle (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}), placed in the GI Gamely Stakes.

Haras du Hoguenet stallion Penny's Picnic now has two winners from three to race in the U.S. (66%). The son of Kheleyf also has Thousand Oaks, fourth in the Listed Golden Poppy Stakes, running for him in that jurisdiction.

Repeat Winners:

No Show Sammy Jo (GB) (Lope De Vega {Ire}) is now four-for-five after taking Laurel Park's All Along Stakes on Saturday (video). She is trained by Graham Motion for Bridlewood Farm and Madaket Stables.

Klaravich Stables' Risk Threshold (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) won for the second time in four starts when successful in a Belmont at the Big A affair on Sept. 14 (video). Trained by Chad Brown, the daughter of Priceless (GB) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}) broke her maiden at the same venue in June.
