American Pharoah's Dreamy Another Group Winner For Ballydoyle

At present, there seems to be no limit to the collective achievements of Aidan O'Brien's 2-year-olds and in particular the fillies in that category and it was the Niarchos colour-bearer Dreamy (Ire) (American Pharoah–Tapestry {Ire}, by Galileo {Ire}) who provided further strength in depth in Saturday's G3 Newtownanner Stud Irish EBF Stakes at The Curragh. Off the mark on debut at the Goodwood Festival last month, the daughter of the G1 Yorkshire Oaks heroine was placed behind the leading pair early by Ryan Moore.

Cajoled to the front a furlong out, the 6-5 favourite readily asserted to score by 1 1/2 lengths from Fiery Lucy (GB) (Without Parole {GB}), whose form links in with another Ballydoyle starlet in Heavens Gate (Ire) (Churchill {Ire}).

“She's a fine big mare and Ryan is very impressed with her–she's a baby and he was minding and teaching her,” the Ballydoyle handler said. “We'll see whether we go again or not this year, she doesn't have to. Ryan said she was never really engaging at all until they came beside her 1 1/2 out. She's massive, so it's a surprise that she was able to do what she did at Goodwood and here as she probably won't furnish until she's four. I'd say she is a big Oaks filly.”

Pedigree Notes

Dreamy is the second runner for the aforementioned dam Tapestry, who also captured the G2 Debutante Stakes and was second in the G1 Irish Oaks and G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes alongside her York triumph, with the first being the G3 Amethyst Stakes-placed New World Tapestry (War Front). A full-sister to the much-vaunted G3 Golden Fleece Stakes winner John F Kennedy (Ire), she is out of the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and G1 Prix Marcel Boussac-winning European champion 2-year-old filly Rumplestiltskin (Ire) (Danehill) who is a granddaughter of the great Miesque.

Under the third dam Monevassia (Mr. Prospector) is the G1 Japanese Oaks, GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, G1 Hong Kong Cup and G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup-winning champion Loves Only You (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) and her G1 Dubai Turf-winning full-brother Real Steel (Jpn). The family includes many other luminaries including Alpha Centauri (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}). Tapestry's filly foal is by Dubawi (Ire).
