Group 1 Queen of the Turf S. heroine Amanpour (Aus) (Northern Meteor {Aus}) topped day three of the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale at A$1.5 million Friday. Sold to Rosemont Stud and Blue Sky Bloodstock from the consignment of Gooree Park Stud, she was a late supplement to the sale and was the lone seven-figure lot to go under the hammer in the final session of book one. Amanpour will go back to trainer Gai Waterhouse to be spelled prior to a return to the races.
“I though it was enough to pay for her,” said Anthony Mithen of Rosemont Stud and Blue Sky Bloodstock. “We were pretty close to the knockout blow, but it was nice that we were the last one standing. She will spell now and stay with Gai and hopefully have a good spring racing in the red and white gatecrasher colours of Rosemont.”
Amanpour would most likely visit Rosemont Stud resident Starspangledbanner (Aus) (Choisir {Aus}) upon her retirement from the track.
