Two bodies were found at in the stable area at Ellis Park in Henderson Kentucky Tuesday morning, according to the Henderson County Sherriff's Office.
“On August 27th, at approximately 12:35 a.m., deputies were dispatched to Ellis Park Racing & Gaming, in reference to an unconscious subject in the back(stretch) area,” read a press release from the sheriff's office. “Deaconess Ambulance Service, Basket Fire Department, and Spottsville Fire Department were also dispatched to Ellis Park. Upon arrival, a male subject was found deceased in his apartment on the backside of Ellis Park. Personnel with the ambulance service discovered the victim had been with another person earlier that night. Emergency personnel went to check on that subject and found him deceased in his apartment. After a preliminary investigation, we do not suspect foul play at this time, and there is no danger to the general public. The two victims are being transported to Louisville for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.”
WEHT in Henderson is reporting that the Henderson County Coroner's office was investigating the deaths, adding that both bodies were males. No names have been released.
Ellis Park is not currently conducting racing. The most recent meet closed on August 26.
