Aidan O'Brien trainee Lambourn (Ire) (Australia {GB}–Gossamer Wings, by Scat Daddy) made a winning debut in Wednesday evening's Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race at Killarney and was the main beneficiary as winner elect Green Triangle (Ire) (Gleneagles {Ire}) crashed through the rail when looking nailed on for victory.

LAMBOURN (IRE) (c, 2, Australia {GB}–Gossamer Wings {MGSP-Eng & SP-Ire}, by Scat Daddy) raced off the pace in eighth after a sluggish getaway in this debut. Bustled along before halfway, the 6-1 chance made relentless headway to go fifth entering the final furlong and, with the clear leader Green Triangle (Ire) (Gleneagles {Ire}) grasping defeat from the jaws of victory by crashing through the rail in the dying strides, kept on relentlessly to prevail by 3/4-of-a-length from J'Adore Chris (Ire) (Churchill {Ire}). “It was an eventful race and you don't really like to win them on those terms, but he is a horse who has been coming along nicely at home and is still very raw,” said Ballydoyle's Chris Armstrong. “He missed the start and never really travelled, but Wayne [Lordan] felt as soon as he turned in, that he was really going to finish off. He was doing his best work in the last furlong-and-a-half and will be a lovely middle-distance horse for next year. He now fits in nicely for those back-end two-year-old races over a mile and, typical of the sire, he is laidback and has a very good attitude. He will come on a lot from it and it looked an above average race.” Lambourn is the second of four foals and first scorer produced by G2 Queen Mary Stakes and G2 Fkying Childers Stakes placegetter Gossamer Wings (Scat Daddy). His dam is a full-sister to the stakes-winning Lavender Chrissie and kin to GIII Victory Ride Stakes victrix Baby J (J Be K), GI Secretariat Stakes third Laureate Conductor (Bernstein) and the stakes-placed Que Posse (Posse). The April-foaled bay is half to a yearling colt and a weanling colt by Frankel (GB). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $16,237.
