Deterministic To Try the Lawn In Manila

Deterministic en route to winning the Gotham Sarah Andrew

The GIII Gotham Stakes winner 'TDN Rising Star' Deterministic (Liam's Map) will try his fortune on the grass when he makes his turf debut in the GIII Manila Stakes June 29 at Belmont at the Big A.

The Christophe Clement trainee briefly found himself on the Kentucky Derby trail after taking the aforementioned early prep by two lengths. He finished off-the-board in the GII Wood Memorial Apr. 6, running eighth as the favorite, and May 11 in the GIII Peter Pan Stakes, running fifth, in his two most recent trips to post.

Clocked in 1:01.22 in a five-eighths work June 14, that effort had been over Saratoga's Oklahoma training turf, he put in a move Friday morning with another five-eights in 1:03 flat on the dirt training track.

“He worked well. I'm happy with him,” said Clement. “He won the Gotham on a wet track and he was disappointing in the Wood. I've wanted to try him on the turf ever since and now we've had the chance to train there. He moves like a dream on the grass. He's a good horse and I have not given up on him.”
