West Point Stables bought a minority interest in Liam's Map (Unbrilded's Song) before his GI Woodward win, it was announced Sunday. The 4-year-old colt, who was an $800,000 Keeneland September purchase for Teresa Viola Racing Stables, boasts a career record of 7-5-2-0 with $808,940 in career earnings so far. The gray ran four times during his sophomore season, which was highlighted by a win in Gulfstream's Harlan's Holiday S. This season he annexed an optional claimer at Belmont in June before finishing a game second in the GI Whitney S. Aug. 8. He will likely make his next start in either the GI Breeders' Cup Classic or GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.
“We're really excited about being a small part of the ownership with Teresa and Vinnie Viola,” West Point's Terry Finley said. “The opportunity presented itself before the Woodward and it came together very quickly. We've had some good horses together and we've developed a really good relationship, so it was a very straight forward deal. He's shown he's a pretty talented colt and that's certainly a huge understatement. He's been brilliant in every one of his races and we were there when Vinnie bought him as yearling and they've done a great job developing this horse. This is just the right team that you want to get on board with, that's for sure.”
