Giovanni Canaletto (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), a 14-1 shot for the G1 Epsom Derby for trainer Aidan O'Brien and the Coolmore partners, has been ruled out of Thursday's G3 Chester Vase by his conditioner after returning a dirty scope Monday.
“Unfortunately, Giovanni Canaletto didn't scope clean this morning and won't be traveling to Chester,” O'Brien told Racing Post. “It's a bad time to have such a hold-up, so we'll have to wait and see. We have other entries in the Vase and will probably run one or two.”
Giovanni Canaletto has started twice, and was last seen breaking his maiden by 6 1/2 lengths at Leopardstown in October.
