In this continuing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. Here is one such horse for this weekend running at Toyko Racecourse, the site of Sunday's contentious renewal of the G1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby), with several produce of US-sourced mares signed on:

SUCCESS LAUREL (JPN) (c, 3, Mastery–Courtesan, by Street Sense) has made three starts to date over this track and distance, winning his maiden by open lengths last November (see below, SC 1) and finishing fourth in his first try against winners Jan. 29 before finishing a close second when last seen over a muddy strip Feb. 13. The stakes-winning and dual Grade III-placed Courtesan was acquired by J S Company for $250K with this colt in utero at Keeneland November in 2018. Success Laurel was purchased by his current connections for $426,452 at the 2020 Hokkaido Summer Select Yearling Sale. B-Oshima Bokujo
