Going to Vegas Likely to Supplement to Breeders' Cup

Though not nominated to the Breeders' Cup, it appears that GI Rodeo Drive S. winner Going to Vegas (Goldencents) will put her three-race winning streak on the line in the GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

“The owners haven't collectively come together, but all indications are that she's going to the Breeders' Cup,” said Myracehorse Founder and CEO Michael Behrens. “That was our expectation going into the Rodeo Drive, that if she ran well, the plan would be to go to the Breeders' Cup.”

It will cost $100,000 to get her into the race, which is a “Horse of Racing Age” payment. The owners will not have to pay any additional entry fees, which have been waived because of her win in the Rodeo Drive, which is a 'Win and You're In' race for the Breeders' Cup.

Myracehorse owns 51% of the 4-year-old filly as part of a partnership that also includes Abbondanza Racing LLC and Medallion Racing. She was purchased for $500,000 after finishing fourth in the GII Buena Vista S. in February and has since won the GIII Santa Ana S., the GII John C. Mabee S. and Saturday's Rodeo Drive at Santa Anita. Behrens said that there are more than 3,000 people involved in the Myracehorse partnership.

Myracehorse partners pay a one-time fee when they sign up to buy a micro share of a horse and are not required to make any additional payments. That meant that Behrens and his team had to get creative when it came to raising the money to pay for the supplementary fee. He said that the purse money earned in the Mabee and the Rodeo Drive has not been paid out, so that there was an available source of money available to get into the Breeders' Cup.

“We have the money on hand,” he said. “Usually, we distribute the money 15 minutes after a race. As soon as there is liquidity, we put it back into their wallets. But we reserve the right to hold money back for situations like this. If we decide we want to nominate to the Breeders' Cup, we will have the cash on hand. If we don't, we'll just redistribute the cash back to them.”
