Into Mischief Filly Looms Large in Eight Belles

Mundaye Call | Coady

OXO Equine's Mundaye Call (Into Mischief) may not be ready to face the big girls in Friday's GI Kentucky Oaks, but the progressive bay will look to punch her ticket for a date with the top fillies of her class in the near future as a looming short-priced proposition on the undercard in the GII Eight Belles S.

Bought for the hefty sum of $950,000 as a Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling, Mundaye Call was just nipped when second by a head debuting for Don Chatlos at 4-5 last summer at Saratoga. Retreating to last after setting the pace in the GI Spinaway S., she graduated next out Nov. 16 at Del Mar, but with only a 70 Beyer. Transferred to Brad Cox over the winter, she's been a new animal at three, following up a sharp allowance success July 11 at Keeneland with a dominant, 7 1/4-length romp in the Audubon Oaks Aug. 9 at Ellis that earned a 100 Beyer.

She has a clear main rival in Whitham Thoroughbreds' streaking Four Graces (Majesticperfection). A rare debut winner for the Ian Wilkes barn Mar. 1 at Gulfstream, the day bay suffered her only defeat to date when fourth going a mile there Apr. 10. Rebounding with an optional claiming tally over track and trip May 16, she scored in the local GIII Dogwood S. and produced a clear new career high when going wire to wire for a geared-down 4 3/4-length triumph in the GIII Beaumont S. July 10 at Keeneland.

Lloyd Madison Farms' Sconsin (Include) is the distant third choice and did have a good-looking optional claiming win over this track three back, but was no match for Four Graces when second in the Beaumont or Mundaye Call when third in the Audubon Oaks.
