TIM WICKES
This morning over a weak, too-much-milk cup of coffee, I read the TDN story announcing the new Breeders' Cup board, and Holy Field Mice. In a time when words like diversity and inclusion are tossed around like bags of peanuts at a ballgame, this new board reads like the party guest list at Tara.
We live in a country where one-third of the population is Hispanic, Asian, or African American but of the 14 Directors and 42 Members, Alex Solis ll stands out like an Armani tux at an Iowa picnic. And he stands alone.
We live in a country where 51% of the population are women, but in the United States of Breeders' Cup, there is only one woman Director and three more Members. Meg Levy, Kitty Taylor, Julie Cauthen, Liz Crow, Carrie Brogden–do I have to keep spitting out the names of bright, talented, successful, admirable women who represent the very best of our industry and who are not on that list?
Come on Breeders' Cup. Get your head out of your past and catch up to 2020. BC should not stand for Boys' Club.
