CHERIE AMOUR (FR) (f, 2, Shalaa {Ire}–Angel Falls {GB}, by Kingmambo), a May 21 third-of-four contesting a five-furlong newcomers' test at Deauville last time, was sharpest from the gates and seized immediate control of this return. In command throughout, the 13-10 pick was bustled along when tackled by Chiri Tsubaki (Ire) (Siyouni {Fr}) passing the quarter-mile marker and kept on well underneath the stands' side rail to deny that rival by a comfortable two lengths, becoming the first winner for her Haras de Bouquetot-based freshman sire (by Invincible Spirit {Ire}). She is the latest foal and fourth winner from as many runners produced by an unraced daughter of G3 Prix d'Aumale winner Anna Palariva (Ire) (Caerleon), who in turn is out of G3 Park Hill S. victress Anna of Saxony (GB) (Ela-Mana-Mou {Ire}). The March-foaled bay is kin to G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere-winning sire National Defense (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), the dual stakes-placed Nordic Defense (Fr) (Makfi {GB}) and Listed Chalice S. third Cascading (GB) (Teofilo {Ire}). Cherie Amour's dam Angel Falls (GB) (Kingmambo) is herself a half-sister to GSW G1 Irish 1000 Guineas runner-up Anna Salai (Dubawi {Ire}), MGSP Listed Surrey S. victor Iguazu Falls (Pivotal {GB}), MSW G3 La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte second Advice (GB) (Seeking the Gold) and G3 Abu Dhabi Championship runner-up Seniority (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}).
