Baden-Baden's Spring meeting takes place over the next two days, with Saturday's action featuring the G2 pferdewetten.de Badener Meile and G3 Preis der Annette Hellwig Stiftung Silberne Peitsche. In the former contest, Team Valor's 4-year-old filly Axana (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}) looks to get her season into full swing having proven a classy member of 2019's Classic generation. Successful in the G3 Karin Baronin Von Ullmann Schwarzgold-Rennen at Cologne in April and G3 100 Jahre Hugo Phohe-Rennen at Hamburg in July either side of a neck second to Main Edition (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}) in Dusseldorf's G2 German 1000 Guineas in May, the bay was narrowly denied a winning comeback when second in the May 7 Listed Grosse Hannoversche Stutenmeile.
The Silberne Peitsche stars last year's winner in Stall Namaskar's Namos (Ger) (Medicean {GB}) and a sprinter on the up in Jaber Abdullah's Majestic Colt (Ire) (Clodovil {Ire}), who had Namos back in third on four-pounds better terms when winning the May 7 Listed Grosser Hannoverscher Sprintpreis. Also on Saturday at Bordeaux-le-Bouscat is the Listed Derby du Midi, where Ecurie Normandie Pur Sang's Frohsim (Fr) (Dabirsim {Fr}) is looking to follow up a brace of Polytrack wins at Chantilly Feb. 8 and at Deauville Mar. 6.
