During these tough times, the New York Race Track Chaplaincy has been able to provide food to hundreds of backstretch workers every week. It is thanks to the help and donations made by racing fans and industry leaders. Dozens of backstretch workers have been quarantined due to COVID-19 and the New York Race Track Chaplaincy has been working to provide food for all of them.
It was only a few weeks ago that the needs of the New York Race Track Chaplaincy were made known to the racing industry. Since then, the support has been both heartwarming and overwhelming with so many people coming forward to make sure that there is enough food to feed the families. Among those who stepped up was Len Green, owner of DJ Stables, who made a matching grant pledge. Similar match pledges have been made by other members of the horse racing community.
The work of the New York Race Track Chaplaincy does not stop, there is a constant need for different supplies and services in addition to food and so continuous support is still needed. Every contribution is met with gratitude and the chaplaincy wants to thank all those who have supported their mission.
