After suffering the first loss of his young career last time, Thousand Words (Pioneerof the Nile) will try to get back in the winner's circle Saturday in the inaugural Oaklawn S. The $1-million KEESEP buy opened his account with a trio of victories, including the GII Los Alamitos Futurity S. Dec. 7 and the GIII Robert B. Lewis S. Feb. 1. The bay suffered his first loss at the hooves of his stablemate Authentic (Into Mischief) last time in the GII San Felipe S. Mar. 7.
Steve Asmussen sends out a pair of talented colts in Basin (Liam's Map) and Shoplifted (Into Mischief). Graduating at second asking at Saratoga July 21, Basin romped in the GI Hopeful S. at the Spa Sept. 2 and was third in the GII Rebel S. at Oaklawn Mar. 14. 'TDN Rising Star' Shoplifted captured the Springboard Mile in December and was third next out in the local Smarty Jones S. Jan. 24. The $800,000 FTFMAR purchase was last seen finishing fourth in the GIII Southwest S. here Feb. 17.
Todd Pletcher sends out an interesting contender at a bit of a price in Farmington Road (Quality Road). Graduating at third asking at Tampa Jan. 12, the bay was fourth in the GII Risen Star S. at the Fair Grounds Feb. 15.
