Dual Classic producer Wellenspiel (Ger) (Sternkoenig {Ire}-Well Known {Ger}, by Konigsstuhl {Ger}), dam of consecutive G1 German Derby winners in Windstoss (Ger) (Shirocco {Ger}) and Weltstar (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}), will visit Soldier Hollow this spring, Racing Post reported. Soldier Hollow holds court at Gestut Auenquelle for €30,000 in 2020.

The Gestut Rottgen homebred is currently in foal to Sea The Stars (Ire). A half-sister to G1 Preis von Europa hero Well Made (Ger) (Mondrian {Ger}), the winning 12-year-old produced her Derby winners as her first and second foals, and she also has the 4-year-old colt Walerian (Ger) (Reliable Man {GB}), the Kamsin (Ger) sophomore colt Worrick (Ger) and the 2-year-old filly Wellenpracht (GB) (Protectionist {Ger}). Her latest produce is an unnamed yearling filly by Dubawi (Ire).

“I would love to have a full-sister to a Derby winner,” Gestut Rottgen Stud Manager Frank Dorff told Racing Post of the planned mating, before giving an update on the Derby-winning half-brothers. “They [Windstoss and Weltstar] both stay in training this year and we hope to win international group races again with them. [Trainer] Markus [Klug] is very positive as they're now completely back to normal work after their long breaks. Of course, we also have it in mind to find good studs to stand each of them as stallions later on.”
