Trainer Bob Baffert unveils two more members of his extremely well-stocked stable in the form of a pair of pricey OBS acquisitions. Merneith (American Pharoah) was a $350,000 Fasig-Tipton November weanling turned $600,000 OBSMAR graduate after a :20 4/5 breeze in Ocala. Her dam Flattermewithroses (Flatter) became a stakes winner when breaking her maiden at 53-1 in the 2012 Voodoo Dancer S. over seven yielding turf furlongs at Belmont. Reem (Danza), a $74,000 Fasig-Tipton October yearling, was by far the most expensive juvenile from her sire's first crop when she brought $400,000 at OBSAPR following a powerful :9 4/5 move. The pair prepped for this by working in company here Jan. 14–Reem was credited with the five-furlong bullet in 1:00 flat, while Merneith was given a 1:00 1/5 time despite the latter finishing in front at the wire (XBTV Video). Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables paid $535,000 for Lontano (Street Boss), the most of any 2-year-old by his sire in 2019, after he blazed through a quarter-mile in :20 4/5. The newcomer's dam is a full to GSP Crossbow (Bernardini) out of a MGSW full-sister to potent speed influence Wildcat Heir (Forest Wildcat). Lontano is bred on the same Street Cry (Ire)–Bernardini cross as last year's standout juvenile Maxfield (Street Sense). Trainer Tom Proctor rarely wins with firsters, but Glen Hill Farm homebred Hurricane Party (Medaglia d'Oro&log=">Medaglia d'Oro) boasts a solid pedigree. His War Front dam Theatre Star was a stakes winner and graded-stakes placed on the grass for these connections, and is a half to GISW Taris (Flatter). TJCIS PPs
