Richard Mulhall Passes Away

Richard Mulhall, former racing manager for The Thoroughbred Corp. of the late Prince Ahmed Salman, died Monday after a lengthy illness. He was 76. During his time as racing manager for The Thoroughbred Corp., Mulhall oversaw the careers of 2001 Horse of the Year Point Given (Thunder Gulch), as well as 2002 GI Kentucky Derby and GI Preakness S. winner and 3-year-old champion War Emblem (Our Emblem). The operation also campaigned champions Anees (Unbridled) and Jewel Princess (Key to the Mint). Salman died in 2002 and his racing operation was dispersed in 2004. Mulhall, who began training in 1959, conditioned stakes winners Simple Magic, Nasib, Mohmed Abdu and Chart the Stars. Among Mulhallís survivors is his daughter, California trainer Kristin Mulhall. Services are pending.
