The Eclipse Awards finalists were announced yesterday and it was no surprise that GI Breeders' Cup Classic winner Bayern (Offlee Wild), GI Kentucky Derby and GI Preakness S. hero California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) and GI Breeders' Cup Turf victor Main Sequence (Aldebaran) were named as the finalists for Horse of the Year. We have the full list of finalists for all 17 categories of the Eclipse Awards, which will be held Jan. 17 at Gulfstream Park. In Australia, the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale got off to a strong start with a total of 140 horses selling for A$23,335,000. Also, Outstrip (GB) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) headlines the G2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1 today, and Bill Oppenheim analyzes the 2014 APEX A Runner Index, which was topped by Galileo.
