O'Brien Appointed Plusvital Brand Ambassador

Danny O'Brien | Racing And Sports

Australian Group 1-winning trainer Danny O'Brien will represent Irish equine science company Plusvital as a brand ambassador, the genetics company announced Thursday. The company's genetic tests for thoroughbred horses provide objective, scientific information to support breeding, training and race entry decisions.

“We're very excited to develop this new partnership with Plusvital,” said O'Brien, who used genetic testing to route subsequent Group 1 winner Shamexpress (NZ) (O'Reilly {NZ}) to sprint distances. “We view the genetic testing technology offered by Plusvital as another outstanding layer of information that a trainer can use when assessing a horse. Shamexpress's pedigree suggested he would be a Derby horse, but thanks to genetic testing, I pinpointed early in his career that he was a purse sprinter and this information enable us to abort running him in longer races and focus his attention on the shorter races.”
