+GOIABA (f, 3, Speightstown–Christies Treasure {SP, $113,602}, by Belong to Me), bet down to 3-5 in this debut, duly delivered the goods with a dominant win at Laurel Sunday. Not the quickest off the blocks, the $300,000 Keeneland September buy bided her time in fifth, as the freewheeling Resolana (Put It Back) sped through an opening quarter in :22.93. Winding up with a powerful bid on the far turn and spun five-deep turning into the lane, the blaze-faced chestnut took charge approaching the furlong grounds and poured it on from there, skipping away to a 6 1/2-length victory. Eclipticalrosette (Storm Wolf) got second money over Resolana. The winner is a half to Sacristy (Pulpit), GSW, $252,112. Her dam is responsible for a yearling colt by Curlin and foaled a Street Sense colt Apr. 20 before being bred to Exaggerator.
“She was a little bit green,” said winning trainer Arnaud Delacour. “With the kickback, she was climbing a little bit, but actually it's a good thing because she learned something today. I was delighted with how it set up for her. I was not quite sure about the track because it looks like it could be a tiring track, but she handled it fine. She did good. She's a classy filly.”
