Purely a Dream, a narrow grassy maiden winner at Keeneland two back Oct. 28, was making her stakes debut following a well-beaten eighth-place finish in a Churchill optional claimer over the main track Nov. 26.
Hung out wide in post 10 here, she raced in between horses while at least three wide behind a solid early tempo and began to move after the dueling leaders three off the fence after a half in :46.47. Making a sweeping move on the far turn, Purely a Dream was in control through three-quarters in 1:10.93 and distanced herself turning into the lane to win for win. Awesome Boss completed the Ken McPeek-trained exacta.
Pedigree Notes:
Yorksters Girl (Ire), stakes-placed in Britain, was an 18,000gns TATDEC purchase as a horse of racing age for Purely a Dream's breeder James Bredin in 2009. She is also represented by the 2-year-old filly Dragoness (Street Boss) and a 2017 First Samurai filly. McPeek has enjoyed plenty of success with offspring by Purely a Dream's sire Pure Prize, led by GI Hollywood Starlet S. heroine Pure Fun (Pure Prize) and GII Pocahontas winner and GI Darley Alcibiades S. runner-up Dothraki Queen (Pure Prize).
